  • What is The Medina eClinic?

    • The Medina eClinic is a service that provides people with remote access to a physician via a computer with internet access. You can speak with a provider using a secure web cam interaction. An appointment can be made online, by visiting our website at http://www.themedinaclinic.org.

  • Do I need to download any special software to be able to use the eClinic service?

    • The Medina eClinic does not require any special software download, simply connect using your internet connection and a Webcam.

  • Where is The Medina eClinic available?

    • You can access The Medina eClinic from anywhere with internet access.  You must however be a resident of the states of Missouri or Kansas.

    • You do not need to have health insurance to use The Medina eClinic online care, but you must have a major credit or debit card.

  • When is The Medina eClinic available?

    • The Medina eClinic is available during the following times:

    • Connect to an online session via webcam at specific times between 7:00pm – 8:30pm Central Time on Wednesday every week.

  • What can I use The Medina eClinic for?

    • The Medina eClinic can be used for the following purposes:

      • Follow up appointments (requires prior office visit)

      • Medication refills and changes if needed (must have been seen physically in our office within the past year to receive more than one month refill on meds).

      • Follow up on lab results

      • Second opinion

      • Referral to a specialist (requires prior office visit)

      • Questions on preventive and age or gender appropriate screenings

      • Questions about care

      • Weight loss consultation

      • The Medina eClinic cannot be used to make a new diagnosis in most cases, because a physical exam may be needed in the office.

      • The Medina eClinic cannot be used to receive a prescription for a controlled substance.

  • Can I see the doctor if I am located in a different state than Kansas or Missouri?

    • No, generally, our providers can only see patients within the states of Kansas or Missouri.

  • What languages are offered through The Medina eClinic?

    • At this time, only English is available.

  • What is the difference between The Medina eClinic online care and other online care services?

    • The Medina eClinic is staffed by a licensed physician. The Medina eClinic is operated by The Medina Clinic, Inc, a 501(c)(3) non-profit medical office that is located in Grandview, Missouri, and sees patients in Jackson County and surrounding areas. This means that patients can use The Medina eClinic to either follow up after a face-to-face visit, or to ask initial questions and follow up in the office later. In addition to being connected with a conventional office, The Medina eClinic is a service that is operating on a not for profit basis. For this reason, the cost for the patient to use The Medina eClinic is much lower than other similar services. The ability to have labs ordered when using The Medina eClinic may be available in the future.

  • How does The Medina eClinic work?

    • With The Medina eClinic, all you need is a computer with internet access and a webcam.

    • How it works:

    • 1. Go online to www.themedinaclinic.org.

    • 2. Click on the “Make an Appointment” button to register with our online scheduling portal.

    • 3. After registering and signing in, click the “eClinic online visit” option to find and select your preferred online session time and day.

    • 4. Complete the pre-registration form and payment process to reserve your session spot.

    • Make sure to perform a system test (SYSTEM TEST) prior to your eClinic visit.

    • On the day of your appointment, make sure to check your email a few minutes in advance. You should receive an invitation to join a meeting within 15 mins before your appointment. Click on the link to join the meeting. You will find a screen that says that the session is not active. This is normal. Your session will only be activated at the beginning of your scheduled appointment and maybe even a few minutes after. If your session is still inactive after 10 minutes of waiting, then refresh your browser. Under extreme circumstances, it is possible that the physician is called in for an emergency during the time of your session and cannot make it. In that case, an email will be set to you with session refund information and rescheduling options within 24 hours. Once the physcian logs in your session will become activated. Make sure that your volume is un-muted and that you click on the camera button to begin your session.

    • The provider will be able to answer your questions and write prescriptions, if he or she feels it is clinically appropriate.

  • Who are the providers who offer The Medina eClinic online care?

    • At this time providers include family physicians. Additional providers, such as internists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, health counselors, therapists, and nurses may be available in the future.

  • Are the actual practicing doctors in hospitals or practices?

    • Yes. Physicians for The Medina eClinic are practicing physicians at hospitals, practices, or both.

  • How long is one session?

    • The standard medical session is fifteen minutes long. Your session will be terminated at the end of the 15 minutes allotted.

  • How much does it cost to use The Medina eClinic online care?

    • The standard fifteen‐minute medical session costs $10.

  • What if I cannot make it to my scheduled eClinic online session, can I cancel or reschedule?

    • You must reschedule at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment to receive a full refund. You must re-register for another session since we cannot re-apply your payment to another session.

  • What if the physician is late to the session?

    • Some circumstances may lead to a delay in starting the session by the physician. At that point, you may allow the physician up to 10 mins to sign on if you wish, which will be then be added on to the end of your session once the connection is made, or you may choose to cancel or reschedule your session. Cancelations or rescheduling in these cases where the physician is responsible are fully refundable.

  • What if I miss my appointment without cancelling first, can I get a refund?

    • Unfortunately, missed appointments will not be refunded at this time.

  • How do I cancel my appointment?

    • Simply use our online contact form to let us know 24 hours prior to your appointment that you would like to cancel. Include your Full name and date and time of session you would like to cancel.

  • What if my session is disconnected?

    • Simple re-login using the link in your confirmation email, or click on the “join meeting” button near your session time, found under the “eClinic” tab on our website. You will have 10 minutes to re-login before your session is terminated.

  • Can a provider prescribe medication as part of a The Medina eClinic online care visit?

    • Yes. If the doctor on The Medina eClinic believes medication is warranted, he or she can write a prescription for non‐narcotic medications (i.e. no controlled substances), which can be sent directly to your preferred pharmacy. Please note, some state laws require that a provider can only prescribe medication in certain situations and subject to certain limitations.

  • Will I have a record of my eClinic online care visit?

    • Yes, The Medina Clinic maintains a complete record of your online visit, which is available to you for review at your leisure. You can pick up your records by visitng us at our office location.

  • Can I use The Medina eClinic online care when I am traveling?

    • You may use The Medina eClinic if you are traveling to a state where The Medina eClinic online care is available, which at this time is in the states of Missouri and Kansas.

  • How does The Medina eClinic online care protect the privacy of my health information?

    • We are very sensitive to privacy issues. As with an in‐person office visit, each eClinic visit is in full compliance with the privacy and security protection afforded to you under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

  • How do I pay for a The Medina eClinic online care visit?

    • Paying is simple and will occur at the time of your registration. The Medina eClinic accepts major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover) and some debit cards.

    • If you do not have a credit card or acceptable debit card, you may be able to use a prepaid debit card purchased from a retail store. The purchased prepaid debit card must be one that you register online or by phone with your name and address and then activate.

  • I’m having troubles with registering. What should I do?

  • Does The Medina eClinic online care accept my insurance?

    • Services provided via The Medina eClinic online care are not submitted by The Medina eClinic or the provider to your health coverage plan, Medicare, or any state Medicaid program for reimbursement. When you use The Medina eClinic online care, you are responsible for all fees for services provided. Services provided via The Medina eClinic online care are not submitted to any private or public health insurance/health plan company for payment on your behalf. Payment for The Medina eClinic services does not cover pharmacy charges; you must pay for prescriptions, if any, separately.
